Houses

Much of the history of individual houses in Heriot Row is buried in old deeds and directories. We have some parts of the jigsaw, and they are assembled here.  So if you are interested in a particular house, look for a red marker on the map, or scroll down the list of house numbers. Then click. You may find cross links to former resident of the house, or even a story of an event there.

And if you know something about the history of a particular house in Heriot Row that we don’t, please let us know.

For the houses as a whole, the history section will tell you about how the houses came to be built, how they have changed and how their occupants lived.
